Wall-E Box Office Boffo?

Wall-E came in first in the summer weekend box office ratings this weekend. The Pixar pic made 62.5 million in it's first weekend. While this is not the biggest Pixar opening, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles still hold that honor, the opening is a respectable one. It also topped the other summer animated movie Kung Fu Panda's opening weekend. Now, Disney has high hopes that kids will continue to want to see this movie through out the summer season. The LA Times reported today that share holders are concerned about Wall-E's status as a "classic" and gave it as a reason for Disney shares to be down on Monday. What do you think? Did you like Wall-E?

On a short personal note, I apologize for no "Dose" yesterday. I am on vacation for the next two weeks and the dose's delivery is contingent on my having an internet connection. Hopefully, I have worked out the kinks and there will be no further interruptions. Special thanks to Billie for covering me on Sunday!!! Our travel plans changed at the last minute due to the flooding in the midwest and she covered on super short notice. Thanks Billie!!! For any of our readers living on and near the Mississippi we hope you dry out soon!

Disney Lobby’s with $1 million and A New Tinker Bell

The Walt Disney Company spent more than a million dollars lobbying the federal government in the first quarter of this year. The majority of the money was spent on intellectual and copy write protection legislation. Other issues Disney weighed in on were patent legislation, digital television transition, amusement park safety and tourism. They also lobbied on the US-Colombia trade agreement.

Brittany Murphy will no longer be playing the voice of Tinker Bell in the up coming direct to DVD movies. The movie was viewed by John Lasseter of Pixar and basically scrapped last year. Now the movie is being remade and Mae Whitman will be providing the voice of everyone’s favorite fairy. The movie is set to be the first of four Tinker Belle themed movies to be released over the next five years.
