The Muppets are Comming....Back!

The New York Times is reporting that the Muppets are making a comeback!

I for one can't wait. I love The Muppets in all forms, the classic crew struggling to put on a show, Fraggles and the bunch from Sesame Street.

According to the article, Disney is looking to place the Muppets in every pop culture nook and cranny. They are getting a Christmas Special, their own channel on Disney.com and a new movie in 2010. Having had the oppotunity to watch the old Muppet Shows via DVD, I wonder if Disney has thought about just brining back the old show. Not the Disney Channel version, Studio DC, but the original - wacky guests and weird dance numbers. There is something so charming and nostalgic about the show. The munchkin loves old episodes and focusing on one guest star would give them a chance to shine. Kind of like Saturday Night Live for kids? What do you think?

Muppets Return to TV

The Disney Blog has the scoop, the Muppets are coming back!!! Set your DVRs folks the Muppets are returning to TV on the Disney Channel on August 3!!!! Wheee!! All the gang will be retuning along with some of the Disney Channel’s biggest stars. If you follow the link there is some super cool Statler and Waldorf footage.

Sesame to Help Families with Redeployment and Injury

I am an unabashed fan of Sesame Street and the Muppets. The Sesame Workshop is releasing it's second video for military families, part of a "Talk, Listen, Connect" series to help kids deal with parents being redeployed and those coming home with serious injuries from the Iraq War. The Muppets, Sesame Street gang and Cuba Gooding Jr. are all featured. The video is free to military families and is offered as part of a program at military bases.

Henson Company Serves Up The Skrumps

Got little ones? Well, the Jim Henson company has come up with some really neat content for Yahoo! Kids. The Skrumps are kind of like the new furry monsters, remember Grover and Harry? There is a lot of fun here and free things for kids to check out, with mom and dad’s permission though! Here’s a link to get you started.

High School Musical to Hit London Stage and Muppets on iTunes

Joining productions of Mary Poppins and The Lion King; High School Musical will be performed as a stage show at the Hammersmith Apollo in London for a ten week run starting in June. The show has yet to be cast.

The Jim Henson Company announced yesterday that they will be making available their TV programming and film library through iTunes. The first releases will be episodes of the TV shows Farscape and Fraggle Rock. TV shows, music videos and short films will be selling for $1.99 an episode. There was no announcement as to the cost of movies.
