Possible Disney Expansion in Asia
Two news stories today point to the possible expansion of Disney's presence in Asia. First, Variety Asia Online, reported that Bill Ernest has been promoted to President and Managing Director, Asia for the Walt Disney Company. Disney is reporting that this is a new position created to help develop current Disney properties in Asia, and presumably new ones as well. The second news item comes from Channel NewsAsia. They are reporting that Disney, along with several other theme park developers (NewsAsia reported that Universal is not a contender), has been considering a theme park property at a 2200 acre site in Iskandar Malaysia. The land has been set aside by the Maly government to be developed as a theme park. Hmmmm....this all makes sense particularly in light of all the news that we've been hearing about a possible theme park in China.
