Monday - Daily Dose of Disney 1.5.08

DizNews:

Things continue to be pretty quiet in the world of Disney. However, there are a few things worth highlighting....

Screamscape.com is reporting that Disney has proposed that Hong Kong Disneyland’s expansion be paid for by a loan by the Chinese government which will be repaid in equity in the park. The reported expansion will include a more technologically advanced version of The Haunted Mansion and Pirate Mountain, a hybrid of Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain. Oooooohhh.... I’ll keep you posted.

This is not technically Disney related but the Nick Hotel is no longer going to be part of the Holiday Inn brand and instead will be a stand alone resort. This won’t effect any of the running of the resort but those wishing to book a vacation will no longer book through Holiday Inn. Instead you can call (877) NICK-KID, or go online to www.nickhotel.com.

Trivia Teaser: What Imagineer famously penned both Grim Grinning Ghosts (The Screaming Song) and Yo Ho (A Pirates Life for Me)?

Previous Teaser Answer:
Which Imagineer was given the title “Dollmaker to the World”?

Joyce Carlson, who passed away this year, worked on six versions of the Small World Attraction: the 1964 World’s Fair, Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland. Here is a link to Jim Hill’s remembrance of this special lady.

World Wide Disney: Jen, over at Broke Hoedown has a powerful post on the effect visiting The Imperial Museum’s exhibit on The Children’s War had on her. This one put a tear in my eye. There is a bit about Mickey Mouse gas masks used during the war to help allay children’s fears but this post is about more. Link
